Festivities and Traditions

Depending on the season, visitors can live and share different festivities and traditional activities that are celebrated in Montsonís and its surroundins.

  • During fall, on the second weekend of September, the lovers of the theatre can go to Tàrrega to see the most important international market of performing arts of the south of Europe.

  • The festivity "Aplec de Salgar" is celebrated every Monday of Easter. That is an amusing reason to visit the Monastery of Salgar; a Romanesque church closely related with the medieval history of the town of Montsonís. During the ancient times, the secret corridor we have seen in the storeroom of the castle lead there, because Salgar depended economically on the Lord of Montsonís. In the present days Salgar is part of its Municipal Area.

  • During winter, the region offers the possibility to see the traditional "pesebres vivientes" (living nativity scenes), which are presented during Christmas in practically every town of the zone; there is also the possibility to know the "Fira de la Perdiu" that occurs during November in Vilanova de Meià.
