Montsonís, a Medieval Town
Montsonís is a small medieval town in the region of La Noguera, very near the municipality of Artesa de Segre, on the way to Andorra.
Surrounded by the steep walls of the mountain range of the Montsec, the town is an incredible point to observe the Valley of the Segre. The landscape, full of contrasts, is characterized by its great dynamism and its evergreen looking. Depending on the season of the year, it is green due to the nature itself of the valley and its irrigated lands, or the cattle activity typical of the region.
The historical documentation of Montsonís goes back to many centuries in the past. It is a zone with many Iberian, Roman and medieval archaeological remainders.

Regardless the many renovations that have been done in the town, its inhabitants have never renounced to their roots. Today, parts of the defensive wall of the town have become walls of some houses; and still there are some defensive towers standing up, transformed through the time into wine and water reservoirs.
